Alerts Overview

Alerts serve to notify a user of important events that occur within Hub.

A user's most recent Alerts are displayed on the Dashboard, but may also be retrieved as an RSS feed or via Web API.

Hub is intentionally designed to limit the amount and type of Alerts that will be delivered via email, as larger organisations may see many alerts being generated. Therefore, we recommend organisations ingest notifications using the RSS feed or Web API.

Certain key events such as an explicit invitation to contribute data will always be delivered via e-mail in addition to Alerts.

Alert Types

The current Alert Events that can be generated include:

  • Communities
    • Community Library File Uploaded
    • Community News Published
    • Community Share Created
    • Community Share Updated
    • Community Template Updated
  • Hub Reports
    • Report Completed
    • Report Assigned
  • Data Shares
    • Share Created
    • Share Updated
    • Data Share Request Approved
    • Data Share Request Rejected
    • Data Share Request Received
  • Hub Dialogues
    • Dialogue Participation Invitation
    • Dialogue Message Received
  • Document Published
  • Photo Published
  • Voyage Log Published

Dashboard Module

Active Alerts assigned to the current user will appear in the Alerts module on the Dashboard.
